Mavs Show Heart But Hawks Prevail In Epic OT Battle
Hawks hung on for a 148-143 victory in overtime Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
ATLANTA (AP) Trae Young made two free throws with 18 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Atlanta Hawks a 148-143 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.
Young finished with 35 points and 12 assists for the Hawks, who have won four of their last five games. John Collins added 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Dejounte Murray had 20 points and 10 assists.
Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 25 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Spencer Dinwiddie added 22 points, and Christian Wood had 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The game was tied at 124 at the end of regulation. The Hawks took a five-point lead in overtime, but the Mavericks came back to tie it at 138 with 1:22 remaining.
Young then made two free throws to give the Hawks a 140-138 lead, and after a miss by Doncic, Collins made two free throws to make it a four-point lead.
Doncic made a three-pointer to cut the lead to 142-141, but Young made two more free throws to seal the victory.
