Crosby Was the First Female Bridge Officer to Be Killed Off a Star Trek Series

Denise Crosby played Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation for one season before leaving the show. In a recent interview, Crosby opened up about her decision to leave, saying that she didn't want to be "the token hot blonde."

"I was the first female bridge officer to be killed off a Star Trek series," Crosby said. "And I think that was a big deal. It was a big deal for me, and it was a big deal for the fans."

Crosby said that she felt like she was being typecast as the "hot blonde" on the show, and that she wanted to do more than just look pretty.

"I wanted to be more than just a pretty face," Crosby said. "I wanted to be a character who was strong and intelligent and capable."

Crosby eventually left the show after one season, and went on to star in a number of other films and television shows. She is currently a regular cast member on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.

Crosby's decision to leave Star Trek: The Next Generation was a controversial one at the time, but it ultimately proved to be the right one for her career. She has gone on to become a successful actress, and she has paved the way for other women to play strong and intelligent characters on television.
